Liver Transplant of our Son - Baby Tharul Methmina Peiris
We write to you out of deep concern for the current state of health of our son Tarul Methmina Peiris who was diagnosed as having biliary atresia with cirrhosis of liver. This is a very rare and serious disease, statistically it occurs in about one in 10,000-15,000 infants worldwide and unfortunately our son is one of them. Preliminary tests on his sickness and treatments given to him were hopeful but now we are in a stage that requires an immediate liver transplant to stop his health from deteriorating further and save his life.
We were haunted with many doubts about his life expectancy at the beginning but the doctors in Sri Lanka specially Dr ( Mrs ) Dilrukshi Ruberu – Pediatric consultant and Dr Sanjaya Abeygunasekara - Pediatric surgeon, who were looking after our son so far, have been doing an enormous favour to save our son's life. Their dedication kindled our hopes and our son is now urgently needed to have his liver transplanted. For this we have to transfer our son to Global Hospitals & Health City in Chennai, India.
Just after his birth he was diagnosed and since then we have to spend heaps of money for his treatments, leaving us in serious financial difficulties. We are desperately hoping that our son, who is nearly at 2 years of age now, may have another opportunity to see the world same as we all do.
No need to say, taking him to India and getting treatments would be very expensive (which will over Rs 8.0 Million), I have attached the relevant documents from the hospital to show minimum underpinning cost for this operation. Also attached the letters issued by the doctors to confirm this genuine request.
My family and I who share our concern would be gratified by your generous help; no matter how smaller it would be, to contribute this desperate effort of saving our son.
